I've been asked to make 100 cupcakes for a wedding in September and was thinking of using edible diamonds but have read nothing but bad reviews for them. I'm not keen on trying to make my own either so am feeling a bit stuck for ideas of how to decorate the cupcakes. They have to be ivory / white and I would be grateful for any suggestions!

I don't do to many cupcakes but if you look thru the gallery the CCers here make some beautiful cupcakes you can get ideas from.

Do they need to look like real diamonds, or would a representation of diamonds be ok? If just a representation, that what about using something like sparkling sugar, or pour the clear isomalt/sugar and when it hardens, crack it up. Something like this cupcake.

(sorry, I cannot add the attachments.)

Or, do the diamonds have to be directly on the cupcakes? If not, if would look beautiful to have them hanging off the edge of the cupcake tower.
Here are some ideas.

Please post a picture of what you finally come up with. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies icon_smile.gif The cracked isomalt looks really effective and I didn't even think to add diamonds to the cupcake stand instead! I feel much happier about the project now and it turns out OK, I will post a picture...
