Bird Cage For Wedding Cake

Please send me any suggestions on how I could best make the attached bird cage. Should I use royal icing or gum paste? Either way, how best do I construct it.

that's a topper that you purchase, although i suspect you could make one out of gumpaste strings, just make more in case of breakage. Attach with melted white choc, more sturdy that RI

I would buy that. That seems like it would be broken made from sugar.

I would definitely buy it too. Much less stressful. The bird perch is actually suspended from the top so there'd be weight issues too.

I actually managed to make something which I have posted in my photos. what a challenge! but everyone was pleased with it. I constructed a wire frame then made the gum paste strings using the gun.
