Hey!

I am making a surprise cake for my dads friend who owns a vegetarian & gluten free restaurant - I have all the mixes and recipes down - now what kind of cake should I make - i've looked all over the net for decoration ideas... but nothings popping out!

Any ideas would be great! TIA

Fondant or gumpaste fruits and veggies in cases that say Organic produce. They made a really neat head of cabbage on Fabulous Cakes last night. Don't have any idea for the gluten free part.

How about carving a basket with fondant carrots, cucumbers, squash etc and make a sign with the store's name on it.

Did you say what the occasion is? Birthday? Restaurant opening? Get Well?- Did I miss it somewhere?

I like the veggie and fruit ideas - i'm thinking - maybe I will make a humongous tomato or a watermelon... with a nice board underneath covered in fondant - with their restaurant name?! icon_biggrin.gif

Do you basket weave w/ buttercream?
sweetlayers idea with a basketweave would be nice.

It was really nice! I liked the Terra Cotta colored Grecian Urn they made.

You could always use the exterior of the restaurant for inspiration. Make a cake of the actual restaurant storefront, complete with a few patrons waiting outside to get in.
