Hello CCers. I'm traveling on business today to Omaha, NE and then to Lincoln, NE. Is there anything special I can do there? I'll be there until Thursday morning. Doesn't have to really be special, just something to do, a site to see or something of that nature. Thanks!

I live north of Omaha/Lincoln. If you have time the Old Market in downtown Omaha is worth wandering around as is the Hay Market in lincoln. Other than that there are zoos in both places as well as museums.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo is one of the best in the country! There are fabulous indoor exhibits, as well as an IMAX, in case the weather is nasty (we're horribly hot and humid at the moment!) If you want to get some exercise, stroll across the Kerry pedestrian bridge that crosses the Missouri River, linking Omaha with Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Air & Space museum between Omaha and Lincoln is worth a visit if you are at all interested in that sort of thing. If you like to gamble, Council Bluffs has Ameristar and Harrod's casinos. Council Bluffs also has one of the last squirrel cage jails, and has turned it into a museum (the tour is a lot of fun). If you want to browse thru a craft store with a wonderful selection of cake and cookie decorating items, check out Mangelsen's on 84th & Center Street. (I live a few blocks from the store, and spend way-y-y too much time there!) We have some fabulous restaurants, as well. Check out Gorat's (it's a steak and Italian restaurant preferred by Warren Buffet). I could keep going, but I don't want to bore you!

I'm not real familiar with Lincoln, even though I have a sister who lives there. I know she enjoys going to Haymarket, which was already suggested.

Have fun! Let us know what you saw!

I am originally from NE (now live in northern SD). I used to spend alot of time in Omaha as a kid with my Aunt. Old Market is a must! One of my favorites. Also if you are into churches, St. Cecilia's Catheral is really neat. My favorite neighborhood in O-town is Dundee. Really nice neighborhood, and cute little shops. The only thing I have done in Lincoln is go to the capitol building, which is cool, because NE is the only state with a unicameral legislature. (Only 1 house, not 2). And, of course, Memorial Stadium, where the Huskers play. Have fun!

UGH! I'm so mad because I was right there on Center and 84th for my training and I didn't log in to CC so I didn't see this post!!! Bummer! I would've liked to stroll over there to see what I could get! Well, my cousin (who I forgot lives in Lincoln) is getting married there so hopefully I'll be back. I do want to visit the zoo. I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton on Cass St. Everyone was so friendly there.

I did get a chance to go to the Old Market area on Monday night and Wednesday night. I ate at the Twisted Fork on Monday and Vivace on Wednesday. The food was great at both but the creme brulee at Vivace was the best I've had!
