Has Anyone Made Basketweave From Fondant?

I am making a yarn basket cake & would like to do the basketweave in fondant. When I search the internet I only find basketweave rolling pins...I really really don't want to buy one.
All suggestions/advice is welcomed! Thanks!

Yes, I've done it, and it's a pain! Of course, it looks good, but buttercream basketweave is so much quicker. The rolling pin is a great idea, but if you really don't want to buy one, then I don't know what other option you have other than trying to form it by hand with fondant, or pipe it with buttercream.
