So I am gearing up for this year's OSSAS. I have never competed in Oklahoma before, so I was just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on a cake base. My design is finalized and I am already working on flowers and such, but I was trying to decide between buying an ornate cake plateau or doing a fondant covered cake base that I can work into the design. The bottom tier of the cake is 18" so a cake plateau would have to be at least 22" and it is just really expensive. Any suggestions?

Have tried a party rental place? I thought about making one , wood with molding for floors. Then painting the color i want. Home depot has some cool metal spray paints for $6.
