I am working on a wine bottle cake much like the photos I have seen. I am interested to know how to get my fondant/gumpaste glossy as a bottle would be. Any suggestions?

Once everything is decorated, steam it. I use a travel-sized clothes steamer & have never had a problem. Hope this helps!

if you don't have a steamer you can rub shortening on the area that you want shiney icon_smile.gif

I saw a lady who got her wine bottle cake to shine just like glass and she said she used a mix of 50/50 glucose and vodka on the fondant.

Thanks for the help! I am going to try both steaming and the glucose vodka and see which comes out better.
