Just wanted to share:
I have used some sps plates and pillars to make my own cupcake towers. I have a white set and a clear set (depending on what the clients want). I just glue the little rings that come with the pillars onto the top of the cake plate with super glue. Then cut the pillars down (I use the 9" and only use the unscored sides...they come out to 5".) and attach them to the plates. Then I can use as many or few "tiers" as I need.

Probably something other people have done but...thought I would share for those of you, like me, that don't want to spend the money on the expensive towers. The sps is so inexpensive that I have a few stands premade to use. Then the couple returns them to me when they are done with them.
