So when a bride come to you and says 175 guests, does that generally mean you are making a wedding cake for 175 and then the grooms cake will be extra servings? Or should both cakes be around 175? Sorry if that question sounds stupid....

Just my opinion but I always thought the grooms cake is extra or that both cakes would equal the total servings needed but you should probably clarify with the bride.

Thanks. My initial proposal is 175 servings for the wedding cake, with the grooms being additional servings, so it least it gives me room to go smaller if she comes back and says the estimate is too high.... icon_smile.gif

bride's cake + groom's cake = total servings needed.

No need to buy extra cake.

I agree. Not everyone will eat cake. Usually there is lots leftover.
