When I paint on fondant using the vodka gel paste method it seems to stay wet/ sticky is this normal or should it dry? Also it always seems to be streaky is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I use lemon extract to paint with. Because of the high alcohol content it dries fast. Try adding more color to lemon extract to get rid of streaks. HTH
I prefer Vodka/powdered colors. My thought is that Gel, being what it is, wouldn't dry properly? I have not idea if that is true, just what my logic (or illogic as the case may be) tells me.
Thanks for your suggestions Now my other question would be where can I get my hands on powdered colors?
Definately online and possibly at a supply store if there is one near you. Michael's and Joanns do not carry them unfortunately.
I use the gel colors, AmeriColor. It makes a thicker paint. You put gel in cup/bowl and then add drops of lemon extract.
I use the americolor gel with the vodka and if it's left over night it will dry as far as the streaks I don't really have that problem.. maybe it's the brush your using.
