Super Soft, Sml Crumb, Yellow Cake Used In Coconut Cake?

I had a DELISH coconut cake in a Thai restaurant out of town that was suuuuper soft yellow cake. It wasn't a pound cake and it didn't have large air pockets like a box mix.

The coconut flavor didn't seem to be in the cake, just the filling and icing.

To be honest, I've never had a chiffon cake icon_redface.gif , so I don't know exactly what that texture is. This cake wasn't like angel food either.

This is a crazy long shot, but just wondering if you have a recipe in your arsenal that might match that yellow cake?

I'm constantly searching the net, looking for pictures of sliced cake, just to see if it "looks" right! icon_biggrin.gif
