Can I use the Hersheys Chocolate Chips to make the Ganache to spread on the cake before putting the fondant over? I heard you need to use the best quality, but they are very pricey like (Godiva)

Thanks

Yes, you can use Hershey's Chocolate Chips to make ganache. You can even use candy melts to make "ganache". I put ganache in quotes because - as I have read on cc - ganache is only chocolate and cream (and sometimes flavoring and butter) and candy melts are not technically chocolate. However, you would get a similar result.

The reason high quality chocolate is recommended is because ganache is so basic (like I said, only chocolate and cream) so all you taste is the chocolate. Many people don't like Hershey's chocolate or candy melts (because of the chemical taste) so if you do use them, you will get a ganache that tastes like them.

A ganache with high quality chocolate is heavenly! But when I do make a cake for friends with ganache made with Hershey's chocolate, they still love it.
