I have 2 butterfly cakes in a few weeks for different birthday people. How would you go about putting a name on the cakes? Would you put fondant letters on the cake board, or would you do something with wires/sticks popping out of one of the wings?

The wire idea is something I don't know how to do. I can only think of making chocolate mold pops and then piping the letters onto the chocolate, but maybe fondant would be lighter, but I have no experience with this. Any tips?

I'd go with on the board myself or make a banner.

When I have a 3d cake I like putting the lettering on the board. Even if I make a banner first. Don't want to take away from the design. HTH

I made one a while back. I wrote the name on the body part of the butterfly. You could make a fondant body and put the name on it. It was a earlier cake but maybe it will give you an idea or two.
