I am making a 2 layer sheet cake mayb 3?

What I need to know is I need to make it for 70 people can anyone tell me how big it needs to be?

I saw the wilton site and it indicated 12"inch = 72 people

so I am GUESSING if i make 2 or 3 sheets and add filling at 12" this would feed 70 people....

Am I close to the mark or way off??????????

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what to do with the info in your post, so here goes.

I use the Wilton party servings chart, others use the wedding servings chart.

For me, a 70 serving sheet cake is a 2 layer (each is 2" tall), 12x18 inch cake (so a total of 4 inches tall w/ both layers). I torte and fill my layers, so that's 3 layers of filling.

If I want 70 servings in a square cake, it would have to be a 14" square, 4 inch tall cake that serves 63--so they cut 7 more. Again, torted and filled.

Using wedding servings, it would be an 11x15x4 cake or a 12x12x4.

A 12" square cake will yield 72 wedding (1x2x4) servings.

An 11x15x4 sheet (rectangular) cake will yield 74 wedding servings:

Here's a link to indydebi's illustrated cake cutting guide:
(So much easier than Wilton's method.)

In the U.S. sheets cake are commonly rectangular in shape. icon_smile.gif

If you used the included Wilton link, you would see that a 14" square cake will yield 98 wedding servings.....
