Me...I am afraid I am so new I have nothing to contribute
I have told Indydebi before and I'll tell her again she is awesome I read everything she posts or comments on I wishIi lived closer to her I would love to be in on that talk !!!! INDYDEBI U R THE BOMB!!!!!
Anyone cake decorators out just east of Atlanta????? I would love to talk cake. I'm new here but since I found this place a couple of weeks ago, I have kept CC open when I"m doing my cakes.
I know everyone has great ideas and such but it would be nice to have someone local to talk cake. My husband is only so much help. My 2 younger kids are no help. My oldest daughter actually helps with the artistry when she is home from college, but when she is gone..... It's a SAD day!!
So, let me know if anyone is just east of Atlanta, GA!!!!!
How far east of ATL are you? I'm in northeast Alabama, not far from the GA line.
Approximately 35 minutes. I"m in the Covington/Conyers area!!!
Hey! I live in Powder Springs! I would LOVE to meet cakers in my area, or even NOT in my area! I work in Riverdale, but live in Powder Springs, so I could cover LOTS of ground!

what part of NC? I am in Fayetteville
I went to JSU and I remember there was a lot of people in Southerners w/ me from Powder Springs, GA. If I got on I-20 and be close to there in about an hour and a half maybe. Although I could be in Birmingham in an hour, but no one's said anything from there. lol It would be cool to get a group together either way...
DoubleA,
That's not far from me at all, maybe 30 mins! Was she at home when the tornado came through Mentone a few months ago? I can't remember if it went through Ft. Payne or not.
I am not the far from Indy (maybe 2 hours.) Would love to find friendly cakers!! Tried a local cake club but got blasted at the second meeting for sharing too much!! Gee - isn't that what cake clubs are about? Sharing ideas, resources, info and talking cake?
Im in the UK - anyone want join forces??
Me too - where in the uk? I'm south east & just starting out
I'm fairly new at this also. I could definitely use a cake buddy. I'm in FL (Tampa Bay Area). Would travel to Orlando also since it's only an hr. away.
I am from the Newnan/Coweta County area of Georgia. That is a short drive south of the Atlanta airport. I would be willing to make a drive for some cake talk! I also would love to have a more experienced person as a true "mentor." I don't even know where to begin looking, but it would be nice to be able to meet regularly and learn new things!

Wow, goodh thing CC doesn't operate like that or I would have been in trouble a LONG time ago!
When I lived in Mexico City, I had a cake mentor. Her name is Lourdes Reyes (she won 5th place in the Steampunk competition with a cake that had a watchface made of clear gelatin), and she's taught me most of what I know about decorating. I was cake buddies with a lot of her students. But now that I'm relocating to Cancún, I need some new cake buddies. If anybody local's on here, PLEASE get in touch ASAP! But I figure some of you might come this way on vacation eventually. If you do, and you decide you need a "cake talk" fix or to actually DO something cake-y, just let me know - I'm your girl!
I love to share! I just posted a lot of my cake and cookie articles on my Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/TheCakeandCookieCloset.
My e-mail is [email protected].
I remember when I started out making cakes and a lot of people shared information with me. A couple years ago I started making decorated sugar cookies and got great tips from a lot of cake decorators so I love sharing information with everyone.
Debra
