Hi,
Would like any tips on how to make a bible cake. I want to cover it in butter cream icing. Should I ice it in two layers? Maybe do one then cool it and do the second the next day? Do I use a fondant smoother for butter cream icing too?
Thanks so much.
Really want this to turn out good

Are you doing a closed bible or opened bible? If you are make a closed bible I would make a sheet cake depending on the size you are looking for, cut it in half and lay one layer on top of the other. I would then carve to the desired shape. Remove top layer and add your butter cream dam and filling. Frost and let icing crust. Use a Viva paper towel and a fondant smoother to smooth your frosting. If you are making an open bible then take a sheet cake and carve the curved v in the center for the book binding. I would also carve the edge at a slight angle to resemble an open book. Then follow the same method for smoothing. I always carve my cakes to the desired shape before filling and frosting. I have to make a bible cake for the 27th. Good luck.
