Hi! I need to make a chocolate chip cake. I have never made one before and cannot locate a recipe for one that is not adding chips to a box cake. I prefer to bake from scratch. Would you just add choc. chips to your favorite vanilla cake? Also, it is for a 3D cake so I need something that is on the dense side. TIA!!

I would use your favorite dense recipe and add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips to it. You can toss them with some flour to coat them so they don't sink in the batter. But using mini chocolate chips helps with the sinkage too, in my opinion.
