Only the ten and eight inch need straws. I used straws in the 6/8/10 inch tiered cakes in my photo's. I used 8 in the 10 inch and 6 in the 8 inch and cardboard circles under the 8 and 6 inch tiers. I also use a wooden bbq skewer thru the center of the cake. I like using these because they're thinner than dowels and they already have a sharpened point.
I use the "bubble tea straws" on my cakes this size. I use 3 straws each for the bottom and middle tier.
I buy my bubble tea straws at an Asian Grocergy store.....less than $2.00 for a pack of 25 fat strong straws.
How do I use them? Just push through my 8 to the 10?? These cakes will be covered in fondant....if I don't pull my hair out!!! (for my daughter's party, new to this!!)

Yes. I stick one in and measure it and then cut all of the other the same length. I don't use bubble tea straws is why I use more than Tug. I use milk shake straws (just like McDonald's straws). They work great.
I'm making a 12/9/6 inch cake for my granddaughter's first birthday this Sunday and I'm using straws in mine as well. All of the tiered cakes in my photos are made using straws for supports.
Thank you SO much!!!! I have milkshake straws!! That will work better for me! Really appreciate the help!
