I'm carving a USA shaped map cake and it will sit on a 14" round base. Trying to determine the colors. Should the map component look like the American flag and sit on a white base? Or I could do the base in royal blue with white stars and do the map in all white, but then there's no red component.

This will all be in bc. The map cake will have little flags of various cities that were visited by some recent college grads who took a month long road trip around the US. Any ideas about the colors of the components?
