I am thinking of using a petal pan for my DD's upcoming b'day. The cake will have a fondant circle/plaque on top that I will use a rose/leaf circle stencil on and the fairy will sit in the center of the ring in a flower. I am thinking I would like to do draped fondant ribbons with impression mat bows at the indentations of the princess cake. My question is what do you think would look nice for a side pattern under the ribbons. I know it can't be anything to distract from the fairy or the ribbons but thought maybe a texture of some sort since I think the petal pans are a pia to ice on the sides and I may not be satisfied with how smooth I get them. I am using IMBC icing.
