what type of wire is used to stand fondant stars on a cake?

I use 20 gage floral wire. Just remember not to stick the wire right into the cake, use coffee stirrers or slim straws to support the wired inside the body of the cake.

thanks....what happens if the floral wire is not supported by the coffee stirers etc.? I am new w/ the fondant work?

The wire is toxic and can actually change the color and taste of the cake. So buy some coffee stirrers ( you get like 500 for 2.50) to use for your wired letters/flowers etc.
