I have PM'd the user, but haven't heard back yet. I'd really like to try these cupcakes. How do you think they did the flowers..is that piped royal? Any idea on the tip size? What about that gorgeous leaf? I'm stumped. Thanks.

Looks like it could be fondant instead of royal, but I'm definitely no expert!

It looks like the flowers were cut with a five petal cutter and then shaped.

It looks like royal icing to me - the flower is a petunia with lines and a center cone with small yellow dots added. Here's a link on how to make a petunia from wilton: http://www.wilton.com/technique/Petunia. The leaf looks like fondant/ gumpaste pressed on a viener.

Hope this helps good luck!

Why would it be a petunia if the picture is titled, "Hibiscus?"

I'm betting RI as well. Not hard to learn, just practice a bit and you'll get this pretty quickly.

I am 100% sure is RI. It has the same bases as a petunia flower made in RI
Five petals, the only difference is the center.

The flower are made of royal icing. To make the petunia you need tip 104 and the lily nail. for the center use tip No. 2. The leaf looks like fondant but it is very green and it has the look of plastic (maybe it is a plastic leaf).

I also think the are RI. Whne you go to shape the petals for a more realistic look, dab your fingers in cornstarch and shape the petals to give the that turned up look. Good Luck
