HI,
I am in search of a wonderful chocolate cake recipe (with filling ideas) that is moist and delicious that will stand up for stacking. TIA
So glad you got at least one answer! I just asked the same question and no one has answered!
tastyart - I just read through your blog post and that cake sounds and looks delicious. I have one problem....I have no coffee maker! Do you have any suggestions for replacing the coffee? More chocolate milk? Water? I know in the WASC version I use it calls for 1 1/2 c water. What do you think?
May not be getting many responses because that same question is asked approximately once a week.
Here is one of the best comparisons of scratch chocolate cakes:

Just a few tips on searching:
Avoid using the 'search' tab unless you use traditional rules for searching, such as including AND between words.
Instead, use the 'search' that's printed in white on the horizontal dark purple bar across the top of the page. Be sure to click on "all" terms after you enter words like "best chocolate cake recipe."
I find I get the best results through Google. You can do an advanced search where you specify the site to search. Include site:forum.cakecentral.com in your search terms. Or, just list your search terms and include cakecentral as one.
Hope this helps!
My absolute favorite is the "darn good chocolate cake" - except I don't add the chocolate chips -- it really doesn't need them! http://cakecentral.com/recipes/2163/Darn-Good-Chocolate-Cake
krissiecakes- just replace the coffee with water. It should work fine. The coffee just enhances the chocolate flavor. You could use instant coffee as well.

My mom uses the chocolate cake recipe found on the Hershey's cocoa can. It's a good chocolate cake I use the chocolate WASC found on cc.
Even angel food cake "will stand up for stacking". Cake doesn't support cake. Your support system is what supports the cake. Some people stack straight box mix.
Even though this isn't my post...thanks for the ideas everyone!
Filling ideas for you -
Cookies and Cream - I just crush up oreos and add them to my buttercream for a filling. It tastes awesome!
Raspberry Chambord - http://cakecentral.com/recipes/4143/raspberry-puree-filling
Chocolate Ganache - makes for a really really rich cake, but absolutely delish!
Orange - I mix some LorAnn's Orange Emulsion (got it at Hobby Lobby) with some buttercream - so yummy I could just eat it with a spoon!
