Hello CC Family

I need some help understanding a few things for now. I keep hearing about this 50/50 fondant & Gumpaste.

1. Does that mean I would use equal amounts of each?
2. What would be the purpose of doing that?
3. What would happen if I mixed molding chocolate & fondant?
4. What would happen if I mixed molding chocolate & Gumpaste?
5. What would be the reason for me to mix them?

1. Yes, equal parts of each.
2. It makes the drying/hardening time and degree of hardening somewhere in the middle of the two. Basically you get a sturdier, quicker-drying medium to work with than regular fondant. It's helpful if you're modeling a large figure, working in humid conditions, or need what you're modeling to dry fairly quickly. I've done 25gumpaste/75fondant when it's particularly humid just to make it easier to work with.
3. You get some damn delicious fondant. I love mixing the two! It sets up a little harder than plain fondant, but not to the same degree as mixing gumpaste & fondant. And did I mention it's delicious?
4 & 5. I don't know, I've never done that.

YES
2. What would be the purpose of doing that?
FOR MAKING BOWS, FIGURES, ETC. BUT NOT TO COVER CAKE WITH
3. What would happen if I mixed molding chocolate & fondant?
SAME AS ABOVE BUT ALSO GOOD FOR COVERING CAKE.
4. What would happen if I mixed molding chocolate & Gumpaste?
NEVER HEARD OF DOING THAT
5. What would be the reason for me to mix them?

I SEE NO REASON TO MIX GUMPASTE WITH M.C. EITHER ONE WORKS FINE ON THEIR OWN FOR MAKING FIGURES, BOWS, ETC.
