What is the best way to cover fondant cake with sanding sugar? I have a 4 tier cake to do and 2 of the tiers are to have sanding sugar on them. TIA for any tips!

I would think something like piping gell brushed on very thinly would attach the sanding sugar very well.

I agree. I use piping gel when I'm applying sanding sugar to the sides of a cake. It's messy so do it on top of a piece of waxed paper or a cookie sheet. Just slide it up the sides.

I know that sounds odd. With you hand, place the sugar on the sides the best you can but a lot will fall down. I then just run my hand into this sugar on the table and slide it up the sides. Works great. Then you have little waste.
