I make tons of choc chip cookie bouquets and this past weekend tried a sugar cookie bouquet. All of my cookies were breaking and falling off the sticks, even though they were PLENTY thick enough. I also overcooked a few of them to see if that would help so they weren't as soft, and no luck. Does anyone have a recipe that will make sturdier sugar cookies that still taste good? Many thanks in advance!!!

Try this one from KHalstead. I have made it several times and it is wonderful. You can take wood skewers (buy them cheap at Wal Mart), stick them in when cookies come out of oven and they are there to stay.

You can also bag the cookies individually and then tape the sticks or skewers to the bags. I use clear packing tape and it works fine.

Personally, I like the NFSC recipe. i've never had any problem with breakage (unless the design itself is very, very fragile) - even on sticks.
I know other people like Penny's recipe, and as the previous poster said, KHalstead's modified NFSC recipe, too.
