Smbc Taking Long To Reach 160

Just wondering if other people experience their egg whites and sugar taking 20 - 25 minutes to reach 160 degrees. This is with a double batch, so 10 egg whites and 2 1/2 cups sugar. I had read on a thread that some people get theirs done in three minutes or so, so I'm wondering if my thermometer is wrong, or what the scoop is.

Any advice would be great!
