Another Pricing Question-Never Done A Sculpted Cake...
Decorating By cocobean Updated 21 May 2010 , 10:19pm by sweetcakes
I have been asked to do a sculpted cake. A simple potrait. It looks like it could be carved out of an 14"x14"x2". Maybe just filling in the face part to make it stand higher than th shoulders and ears. I think it could serve 20 people. Is 60.00 o.k. to price it at? Do you think the servings sound right?
Thanks for the help.
Hope the picture attached and you can see it good enough.
Is this the actual cake you made, or do you have to make one like it???
I charge $3.00/serv. for bc and $3.50/serv. for fondant w/ a minimum of 15 servings.
There is a LOT more that goes into a 3-d cake than one might think and MOST of it is TIME!!! They take much longer to get everything just right!
by the way, this price that I charge is about $1.00/serv. more than my tiered cake price if that gives you an indication
AND before anyone comments I'm raising my prices soon enough! lol
...sorry, I have not made the cake yet. They asked me to do one LIKE the pictured one.
I'm wondering about the serving size and price because the cake is not a tradition 4" tall. It will be carved out of a 14"x14"x2" with filling just in the face area to make that part stand out.
I'm not sure how to do the pricing and the servings because of that.
Just...please don't present it in a pan...
I charge $4.00 and up per serving for sculpted cakes.
do you have an 11x15 pan, i would use that, serves 35 when left whole, but after carving away you could be down to about 20-25, but there would be less waste. I would charge more then $60 though, but if you are happy with that thats ok too.
