I am doing a medal made out of gum paste and I want to outline it in gold luster dust. Do I let the gum paste dry first ? Do I wet the gp and then dust it on? I am not really sure how to make it smooth on the medal..Thanks for any help!

You can mix the luster dust with vodka or real lemon extract - anything with a really high alcohol content to make a paint. Just paint it where you want it to go; the alcohol evaporates leaving all that lovely pigment right where you put it. Pass your piece through some steam to set the dust when it is dry.

You can also run luster dust through some airbrushes but if you decide to give it a try check with the manufacturer to be sure that it won`t hurt the brush. I have an Aztek that handles it just fine and a Badger that dosen`t.
