would like to do a book cake for someone who does not like fondant. can't figure out how to do one with buttercream and have it look real. any advice?

You can do it buttercream. just smooth it out nicely. if u're using the Wilton book pan then just kinda follow the directions or try ur own. I have a book cake in my photos, it's fondant but i used the Wilton book pan.
