I did a cake a couple of weekends ago, used sugarshacks icing recipe, but I just couldn't get it smooth and the edges square. I'd really like to learn how to make it all nice and clean but I've been struggling with that a lot. I'm looking for suggestions on how to do this better. I used a scraper and a roller to smooth it. I have issues when I try to make the sides nice and smooth, it ends up making the top edge uneven and vice versa. Thanks so much!

I recommend that you invest in Sharon's (sugarshack) DVD on buttercream. Wise investment. Edna also has some youtube tutorials that are very helpful.

I also suggest using the upside down method to ice the cake if you want the edges to be crisp and squared. There is an article for it in the article section on the site.
