Piping Question

What is the absolute hands-down best icing to use for piping a large cake? I would normally use the Magnolia recipe - butter, powdered sugar, milk, flavoring - but looking for alternatives. Thanks in advance!

I would think that any crusting buttercream would be great. HTH!!
