I did a zebra striped cake (bc with black fondant stipes) and the black from the fondant bled on the bc. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?

sounds like maybe you added too much water to the backs of the fondant pieces when attaching??

Or perhaps you colored your fondant black and then immediately put it on the cake?

If you use a crusting buttercream, it shouldn't happen.

Here is an example of a white iced cake w/ black fondant decorations and I had no problems at all with bleeding!

Did you refrigerate your cake? Condensation will cause this to happen. One reason I don't like putting cakes in the fridge. thumbs_up.gif

I also agree with what Tina said.
