Standing Bow Loops

Ok, this is probably a really stupid question to most......

How do you get the bow loops to stand up like the ones in this picture??

Make your bow loops out of gumpaste. Attach with royal icing on chocolate. I think chocolate melts work best - drys faster.

You can make loops stand up like that by sandwiching a toothpick between the ends when you make the loop. Let dry and the toothpick acts as a 'stem'.

Yeah, I wire my loops, but a toothpick is a great idea.
