How can I get clean corners when I cover a square cake with fondant. I always get cracks. I don't know if I over work or under work the fondant. I am doing my first wedding cake and I want it to be perfect. The design is so simplistic it has to be spot on.

Help Me Please

Hi Robin!

Square corners can be a pain because they tend to dry out. Sharon Zambito's Flawless Fondant DVD has proved to be very helpful to me for this situation. She recommends using a vinyl mat covered in shortening to roll out your fondant on. Once it is large enough you just flip it over onto the cake...the side that is up hasn't been exposed to air and is covered in shortening (so it doesn't crack--its very moist). If you still get the little dry parts on the corner you can rub in a little shortening on them and they almost disappear!!

If you haven't checked out Sharon's DVD, you should, it's awesome!!
