I am planning on making a cake for my sister-in-law's baby shower with a Cat in the Hat theme. My plan is to make a 9 or 10-inch round cake on the bottom, then a sculpted cat head with hat on top. Sounds wierd but there's more to it than that. I wanted to give the hat a bit of a slant in the middle. What is the best structure to use on this cake? I plan on using RKT on either the head or the hat (too much cake otherwise that will just get tossed and she has no freezer room to store it). Since the head will be scuplted I'm not sure that using SPS would work. Should I use PVC?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have to get started on it this weekend.
I would use one of these: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-5418161598049/calla-lily-cake&imgrefurl=http://www.petalcrafts.com/cake-support---stand.html&usg=__v5vjeIhmubaaaDbX1lmdUhJh-68=&h=800&w=500&sz=53&hl=en&start=2&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=xA6vqRCwQEc6UM:&tbnh=143&tbnw=89&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgravity%2Bdefying%2Bcake%2Bsupport%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dstrict%26tbs%3Disch:1
But I would make my own instead of spending the $$$. Then I would stack up the cakes and carve them.
