What do you use to attach gumpaste to itself? My cake instructer recommends water mixed with some fondant as a "gum glue" but I've had some problems with things falling off after they are dry.

Thanks,

My instructor told us to dissolve gumpaste in water and use that. It has worked fine for me so far.

I use a mixture of water and gumpaste to make my glue. I put little pieces of gum paste in the warm water and stir to dissolve the gum paste and there you have it.

Definitely use the gumpaste in your gum glue; works much better than doing the same with fondant (IMO).

You can also make a glue with CMC and water.

add 1/4 tsp of CMC to 2 tblsp of warm water and leave in the fridge overnight. It will be a clear edible glue in the morning and works well. This is what I use for everything sugar.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the answers. I'm not sure what CMC is though.

I use meringue powder and water, and I prefer this over any other type of edible glue. Once it's dry it holds everything in place and is very strong. It's my favorite icon_smile.gif
