I want to make a gift bag cake for my moms birthday this weekend, but I am not sure how to do the tissue I make the fondant tissue paper before hand and let it dry (if so how do I get it to take that shape?) or do I put it on the cake and let it dry that way (again, how?)

Thanks so much!

hi,I did a shoe box cake few years back and I used gumpaste to make tissue. I rolled it out really thinly and cut triangles and squares and shaped it to look like tissue and let them dry before placing on the cake. HTH. icon_smile.gif

I did a mix on the present cake that is in my photos. I used gumpaste also and rolled some out in advance and laid it on real tissue paper (crumpled up) to help hold the shape.

Then I had some extra that I used to form as needed to fill in where needed between the dry stuff.

I made a shoebox cake and rolled out fondant really thin and just sort of scrunched it up and placed it on the cake
