I'm making a cake for my son's best buddies 7th birthday. My plan so far is to make a 9" round Ben 10 themed cake with a RKT 'Humungousaur' torso, arms and head busting out of the center of the cake.

I'm looking for photos (I'm a visual person!) of other cakes with things popping out of the middle but having trouble finding the right key words for my search.

Any help/idea/photos are appreciated!!

This isn't the same type of cake, it's a zombie, but it kinda gives an idea: http://www.geekologie.com/2009/03/31/zombie%20cake.jpg
Here's a shark one: http://www.chirky.com/images/shark_cake.jpg

(Since I can't find the type of cake specifically that you want, I'm trying to find anything that is coming out the cake to try to give you an idea of a way to go)

This one is closer: http://www.chrisroberson.net/uploaded_images/Dinosaur_Cake-719157.jpg

Thanks, that last one was closer to what I am trying to describe.
I am looking for examples of how to make the busted part too out of cake/fondant.
Like making a road or grass and having the Ben 10 alien come out of that, and making broken up gravel, road or grass.

It's a boy's cake, I want it to look dirty and messy! (I am so tired of making pretty pink cakes!)

I know what you mean, we had so much fun making our toxic waste cake for a 10 year old boy. For busted up roadway and such, maybe make it nice and neat, let it setup then when you want to put it in place, just break it as you go?

Anyone have any photos or an idea of what words I should search for in the gallery?

I made one but it's a ball. I used the cake board for the one that appeard to come out of as a guide and then cut it like a pizza from the middle out then pulled them from the center out and then place the ball on top. HTH

I guess just try random words that might produce results. Monster - Fireworks - Explode things like that maybe. I'm surprised I couldn't find more results in google earlier. I'll keep trying for you.

No sooner did I hit submit, then I thought to put in a search for Godzilla and found this cake..... http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1265087
Is this the idea of what you are looking to find?

Maybe too, go through all the children's birthday cakes

Thanks cownsj, that's what I'm looking for. I also searched for zombie in the gallery and came up with some good results too.

I'm thinking about making the 9" with a large fondant Ben 10 symbol on top so I can cut into it and peel it back some to allow Humungousaur to bust out of it! Will put some cake & cookie crumbs around to look like dirt.
