Just heard on a local TV station that the Cake Girls' shop is burning and is assumed to be a total loss So sorry Brenda and Mary
That's TERRIBLE . They make breathtaking cakes. Hopefully, they will get back in the saddle again and start making fabulous cakes after they rebuild.
Kellbella, I didn't realize you'd started this thread, so I just started a similar one. Sorry! You must be in Chicago, too.
I took a fondant purse class with Mary & Brenda in December. They're so nice -- my heart really goes out to them!

Here is some news from The Chicago Tribune
wow my heart goes out to them... it's not just about the building because I imagine they have insurance but all the art work she had there... it's inreplaceable (sp?)
I am in shock...
Just read it, omgosh! I am beyond sad for them right now. I wish there was a way we could reach out to them but I am guessing they are very busy right now trying to figure out what to do.
Oh, so sad, my heart goes out to them. From the report, at least it seems as if no one was hurt, keeping my fingers crossed that that is true.
Horrible news! I can't imagine the loss they must be feeling. I hope they are up and running soon.
I feel so bad for them both. Wonderful women both. But they also seem very strong and resilient. I'm hoping and betting they will be back better and stronger than ever, even before we know it. Wish we could all help them out.
I just read this on facebook. My thoughts and prayers will be with them and their entire staff today.
Thats terrible. Maybe the website can send them all of our thoughts and prays. Maybe even to a spread in the magazine. I agree i wish there was something we could all do.
Oh my! I can't imagine how they'd be able to reach everyone who placed an order. I hope everything gets better soon.
Oh my god...so sad to hear...and right before wedding season. I can't imagine what they must be going through..my thoughts and prayers go out to them.
Here's some footage from our local news. Those poor women!

Wow...my heart just sank. What a terrible tragedy. I hope the misplaced resident can find some helpful assistance since she lost everything!
Thanks for sharing this story - we can all keep them in our thoughts.
It is very sad, but God will restore what they have lost and they will be bigger and better, just like Job in the Bible.
It is so sad! I feel so bad for them and the young lady who lost everything. At least no one was hurt. We send our prayers out to them.
This is so very sad for ALL of those involved. I agree with the previous posts - thank goodness no one was hurt, they can rebuild bigger and better and I'm praying that everyone will be taken care.
My heart goes out to them. I'm sure they were insured but there are so many things that money cannot relplace.
I started a thread to show our support for them.

How true mamawrobin. What a heartbreaking thing to happen. Even though it's a building, it's like losing a best friend. I hope everything turns out well for them and the other occupants of the building.
