Attaching Giant Bows To The Side Of A Cake?

I've always put my bows on the top of the cake, but I've seen some beautiful cakes with bows on the side. How do you get a larger bow to stick? I assume you use watered down fondant glue, but is that strong enough? Do you have to somehow support it until it dries? Is it safe to transport the cake?

I use melted white choc.
