HI I need to make a R2D2 cake for 30 people and I'm not sure how big to make it, I have seen many made with 3- 6in and half of a sports ball pan on top. I'm not sure if that's enough...I am so bad at figuring out what size pans to use for any of my cakes, I never know If I should go by the "wedding" serving suggestions or is there something else for "bithday cakes" If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it...Thanks in advance..

If it's for personal use, you know what else is being served. 4 course meal before cake and guests are only going to want a small slice. Coffee and cake and nothing else, they'll want bigger slices.

I use wedding sizes for all my cakes, and they are all priced the same. If you have one set pricing, like $2 a serving and you switch back and forth between the two sizes you are losing money because the party cake servings are giving away more cake.
