I will be making my sister's wedding cake next month.
The cake will be 6 - 9 - 12 inches. And based on this Wilton cake.

My question is, as a first timer. Should I Stack the cakes using SPS system or should I just use a cake stand?

Like this stand

My sister does not have a preference.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I guess it all in what kind of look you are going for.Using a SPS would result in a multi-tiered cake as the other is 3 separt cakes.I personally do not like the trio of cakes look, but that is just my opinion.

I don't like the seperate cake idea either. Especially for a wedding cake. I think I would do the 6/9/12 stacked. It would be much prettier in my opinion. Good luck! Are you going to do a practice run? Be sure and post pictures. icon_wink.gif

Have you ever stacked a tiered cake before? If not I'd definately do a practice run and use the sps.

Do what you are comfortable with- I agree, if you try the stacked, do a practice run.......
