How Do I Create A Box Style Cupcake Tower??

Hi, I need to create a cupcake tower to fit approximatley 200 cupcakes, plus a small 6" cake on top. I'm attaching a pic of the tower my friend likes, but I'm really not sure where to begin. Any and all help is appreciated.

looks like they used wooden hat boxes (you can buy them at the craft store) and just secured them using cut dowels with holes through them to space the boxes. You just run a central threaded rod down the center of all the dowels and boxes and screw a nut on to keep it all tight.
