Try moving the ears. I made a 3d monkey cake and it looked like a bear until I moved the ears farther from the top more toward the sides of the head. Apparently there isnt a whole lot of difference between a bear and a monkey. lol
Rylan, You are such a dear for doing these lists.....flowers, figures, etc.....Thank you for assembling them in one location for each subject. It must have taken you a lot of time to do it and it is very much appreciated!!
OK. I just got a sheet cake order, including music notes, red roses, and her pet chinchilla!!! I've looked up pictures of them on google, but there are several varieties. Any idea how to model a generic one out of 50/50 paste? To me, it looks half squirrel and half rabbit! TIA

Thank you Rylan. What would we do without your dedication to making us all better cake artists.
Hi Ladies,
Thank you so much for this info on how to make the figures! I was hoping though that someone could help me with making a sitting bride and groom for a wedding cake I'm doing in May. I'm not 100% sure where to start. Do I make the bodies and then "clothe" them or do I make the clothes to look like bodies... any help will be soooooo appreciated!
TIA!
This is a great forum! Thanks rylan for all the great links. You are very generous!

This is great information. I was wondering how you can get this post to be a sticky at the top of the page like the other resource posts?
You are excellent...does anyone have advice on when to use fondant vs. gumpaste vs. modeling chocolate? Obviously different consistancy..but any other considerations?
i too forgot about this posting!! thanks again for all your hard work and research! and most of all sharing with us.
BakingHabits,
for a more realistic and more 'cloth-like' topper I would clothe the bodies.
However the bodies looking like clothing are a less delicate look. Adorable both ways, though.
(I don't know if that helped much, sorry.)
Got bad news for everyone. All of the tutorials from www.theclaystore.com are gone. Their website is shut down.
