I have a baby shower cake in a few weeks and they are wanting a pregnant mommy silhouette on one of the tiers. What is the best way to do this? Do I lay a copy on top of fondant/gumpaste and mark it then cut it out? Is there a cookie cutter or something similar I can use?

You can cut it out with an exacto knife. I'd do that using the paper template, other wise you will spend money on a cookie cutter you may only use once.

i agree, make a paper template and cut your fondant with a sharp exacto, let it set up a bit then transfer to the cake. if its going on top i pop mine in the freezer to firm up then put it on.

they don't sell cookie cutters with that motif (I've looked into having some made to sell though with no luck yet lol) I make my own, but don't want to make hundreds of those cutters by hand.

Anyhow........unless you have more than 10 to make, you're better off just cutting them by hand. You could also paint the sillhouette onto your cake if your cake is covered in fondant?
