Freezing A Cake Coated In Buttercream

Hi! My question is can you freeze a cake that has been crumb coated in butercream? If so, how do you do it and how long will it last. Also, are there any tips for thawing it before you apply fondant? I am super new to this so any thing will help! Thanks so much for looking and responding!
