Here is my 1960's Toys Cake I made for the CT. Cake Competition. I won a 1st Place Ribbon in the Intermediate Deivision, 2-tiered cake category. Everything was edible. It took me many, many hours to complete all the toys for this cake. I was very pleased with how it turned out. Somehow it managed to look exactly as I pictured it in my head

Great cake & I love your attention to details! Congrats, you should be proud! Amazing work

congrats again on your cake and the win!!
was this your first time entering a cake competition?
what requirements were there for entering? were you able to set up your cake on sight? was there an enterance fee?
sorry so many questions- im thinking of 'maybe' entering next year - if i can improve on my skills enough to enter.
thanks for any info you can provide-
and again and big congrats to you!!!!

Congratulations!! Great idea, you did an amazing job.

Thank you all for your kind words. I had a ball making this cake but, I definetely pushed myself out of my comfort zone too. This was my 1st competition so, I was really surprised that I did so well. There were some awesome cakes there.
Aundrea, you should enter next year. There was a $10.00 entry fee and there was several divisions from Beginner to Master and several categories within each division. I entered the Intermediate division and I was unsure that's where I should be. I really wanted to be in Beginners. So, like I said, you can really push yourself and you will be pleasantly surprised as to what you can do. I started working on these toys back in January so, I really took my time to make and sometimes re-make them. I had never done any modeling w/gumpaste or fondant before so, I shocked myself too.
