I have an order for a 1st birthday cake and the mom sent me this picture. It's a Wonderful One theme. I just can't picture it! She wants an 8" cake. Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA!

It's an 8" round. Sorry I forgot to say that. icon_smile.gif

OK, If it was my order: I would make the "1" out of gum paste as a topper (attach it to a wire or skewer) and maybe some stars on wires. Use a flower pick filled with fondant & insert all the wires. Cake would be pink with green fondant ribbon with the polka dots as a border. Side design would be starbursts and the circles. Hope that gets your creative juices flowing...

Oh, that sounds great! Would you do the starbursts out of fondant or buttercream? I think the circles would be easy enough in fondant, but the starbursts would be tricky.

i would make the fondant cover lime green
put that one font on the napkin connected all around the cake
then make the polka dots on the top of it with a standing 1 and the bursts n stars on springy lookin' wires...that would so rock.

Your heading made it sound like the cake is a year old! I knew what you meant, but it struck me funny.

You could make the starbursts with the daisy cutter and then just trim the petals to make them a bit narrower.

oh yeah. Was thinking far faster than I typed... The number one on the
napkin... I would make them in a pink and go aroun the sides
of the cake- all the way around.
