I do a popular cake with fresh whipped cream icing. Folks are more and more requesting fancy hobby or special interest decoration on top. I usually use gumpaste or fondant with tylose or pastillage. However, after a couple hours on whipped cream, they all go soft due to the moisture of the cream and being refrigerated.
